The iconic Pier Sixty-Six is making a grand return, with its legendary rotating rooftop venue reopening and an incredible $1 billion transformation redefining Fort Lauderdale’s skyline.
A New Era for Pier Sixty-Six
Hurricane Irma may have caused setbacks, but Tavistock Development has revitalized this landmark, elevating it beyond its former glory. The reimagined Pier Sixty-Six now features an additional tower, elegant marine-inspired residences, a sprawling 2.5-acre pool deck, and 12 world-class dining venues. A vibrant marina promenade will host 32,000 square feet of upscale retail, restaurants, and office space.
Who better to discuss this transformation than Jessi Blakley, vice president of Tavistock Group and a Fort Lauderdale native? In a conversation with Lifestyle Media Group editor-in-chief Kevin Gale, she shares insights into the project’s vision, innovations, and what’s next.
The Excitement is Building
"We’re at the finish line—landscaping is being completed, pools are filling, and interiors are coming to life. As a local, I’ve seen firsthand the nostalgia and excitement this redevelopment has brought to the community," Blakley says.
What’s the biggest wow factor? Without a doubt, the return of the Pier Top—the crown jewel of Pier Sixty-Six. This iconic rotating rooftop lounge will once again offer breathtaking panoramic views. Beyond that, the entire property has been reimagined to embrace Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront lifestyle. No matter where you are on-site, the marina and ocean views take center stage.
The centerpiece? A spectacular 2.5-acre multi-level pool deck, complemented by 12 diverse dining destinations, each offering a distinct culinary experience along the waterfront.

Grand Opening & Reservations
Pier Sixty-Six is gearing up for an exciting launch, with bookings now available online. While reservations officially begin in the new year, select rooms will be available sooner, with an anticipated soft opening later this year.
A Rich History, A Bold Future
Originally a fuel dock in the 1950s, Pier Sixty-Six was transformed in the late 1960s when the 66-spire tower—now a historic landmark—became Fort Lauderdale’s tallest building. Tavistock acquired the resort in 2016, later expanding to a 32-acre waterfront property, including the former Sails Hotel Marina & Shops.
Future development plans for the south side of the property are still under consideration, with the possibility of additional luxury accommodations or mixed-use spaces.

Tavistock: Visionary Developers
Tavistock Development Co. is a leader in innovative real estate, best known for master-planned communities like Lake Nona in Orlando and high-profile properties like the St. Regis Atlanta and Albany in The Bahamas. Though this is their first major South Florida project, they are already well-established through hospitality ventures such as Timpano on Las Olas and Abe & Louie’s in Boca Raton.
Design Inspired by the Sea
The new low-rise circular building, mirroring the original tower’s design, will house a signature waterfront restaurant, a luxurious spa, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
The Azul and Indigo condominium towers, inspired by coral reefs, feature fluid balcony designs—each with a private plunge pool, a first for Fort Lauderdale. Along the Mercedes Canal, boutique four-story condo buildings take cues from the soft, rolling forms of sand dunes.
Residences start at $3.85 million, with move-ins beginning alongside the resort’s grand opening. A limited selection of units is still available.
A Meticulous Restoration
The historic Pier Sixty-Six Tower underwent an extensive renovation, including:
A fully restored rotating rooftop lounge—a feat requiring rare, specialized engineering.
Modernized balconies with glass paneling, preserving historic elements while enhancing panoramic views.
A new 10-story tower seamlessly integrated with the original structure.
Culinary Excellence
The resort’s 12 distinctive dining venues will showcase a global array of flavors, inspired by international ports of call. More details on restaurant concepts and executive chefs will be revealed closer to opening.
Zenova Spa: A Sanctuary of Wellness
Zenova Spa will offer a holistic wellness experience, featuring:
The first ceremonial sauna in the Southeast U.S., inspired by European Aufguss rituals.
A snow room for a rejuvenating cold therapy experience.
Sensory showers and vitality pools designed to promote relaxation and restoration.
Unparalleled Event Spaces
The resort will boast 40,000 square feet of elegant indoor and outdoor event space, including grand waterfront ballrooms and a scenic event lawn—perfect for weddings, corporate gatherings, and large-scale celebrations.
Marina & Sustainability Enhancements
Pier Sixty-Six remains a premier yachting destination on the East Coast, now with:
Expanded dock space to accommodate larger vessels.
Eco-friendly materials and enhanced waste management.
New EV charging ports, aligning with the future of electric boating.
Hosting the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show’s Super Yacht Village, a prestigious annual event.

A New Era for Fort Lauderdale
With the revival of Pier Sixty-Six, alongside the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center expansion and new luxury hotels, the city is poised for unprecedented growth.
"Fort Lauderdale is truly coming into its own. Significant investments across the city are elevating its status, and Pier Sixty-Six is at the heart of that transformation," says Blakley.
